The final boss of PÖFF Love Film Festival Tartuff is the cult classic "Grease"!
The film full of youthful joie de vivre was commemorated with a social media post by one of its leading actors, John Travolta, as it closes the PÖFF Love Film Festival in two weeks.
"It's hard to find a more perfect summer film," said Johan Kudu, director of Tartuff.
US director Randal Kleiser's musical tells a story about a boy band leader named Danny who falls in love with a gorgeous country girl Sandy, but hides his feelings. This year, the film is a part of repertoire of many outdoor cinemas around the world, as it turned 45 years old.
The largest open-air film festival in the Baltics will screen 12 films on Tartu Town Hall Square from 31 July to 5 August. Full schedule is available, including documentaries, children's and youth films.
As always, all screenings are FREE of charge.

"Passages" is the new film by Ira Sachs (Forty Shades of Blue, Love is Strange). It is a story about a gay couple's relationship going sour after one of them begins a passionate affair with a charming teacher. Starring Franz Rogowski, Ben Whishaw and Adèle Exarchopoulos.
"Parade" - Catholic marriages can't be divorced, but they can be annulled. A Lithuanian couple has to walk an obstacle path full of twisted absurdity. After a successful premiere at PÖFF 2022, Titas Laucius' comedy-drama returns to the Estonian screen.
"My Sole Desire" - A new girl comes to work in a Parisian strip club to experience a life of daring temptations. A naughty little drama from French director Lucie Borleteau.
"Someday we'll tell each other everything" - An 18-year-old East German girl begins a relationship with a man twice her age shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. German director Emily Atef's film is based on the popular book by Daniela Krien.
"Silver Haze" - Two wounded women find each other to face their inner demons together. A film by Dutch director Sacha Polak.
"The Happiest Man in the World" - Successful lawyer Asja finds herself with shy banker Zoran on a blind date. Their romantic relationship reveals hidden wounds and memories of a brutal and unnecessary Balkan war. North Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska's film is a love poem to the city of Sarajevo.
"Patrick and the whale" - Austrian director Mark Fletcher created a spectacular documentary about a former lawyer Patrick Dykstra who falls in love with a 12-tonne whale during his diving expeditions.
"Blue Bag Life" - A heroin-addicted mother abandoned her daughter Lisa when she was a child. Avoiding the lure of drugs, Lisa is now trying to uncover the nature of addiction, from which her spouse has not escaped. A shocking and brutal true story from Rebecca Lloyd-Evans, Lisa Selby and Alex Fry, where love, humour and most importantly, hope can be found.
"Larry" is Hungarian director Szilárd Bernáth's poignant youth film about Adam, who learns painful life lessons as he raps to get rid of his oppressors.
"Arabella, the Pirate's Daughter" - The 40th anniversary of Peeter Simm's children's film. A true piece of Estonian film legacy.
Earlier this summer, Tartuff announced feature fiction films "The Salesgirl", "Sweet As" and "Ditto" and documentaries "Apolonia, Apolonia", "Artem & Eva", "Mother of All Lies" and "Eternal Memory".
The festival will open with Franz Malmsten's student film "Crossing the Line" and Michael Mann's crime thriller "Heat", which belongs to the modern film classics.
Tartuff Festival Club 2023 is the riverboat-bar Naiiv, which will host the "Tartuff Love Boat" series of events. More information TBA.
